ISI was summoned to the North Pole for a very interesting and important project. The goal was to improve efficiency on a short time schedule for Santa’s Christmas Eve sleigh ride. Due to the economy Santa is expected to provide parents with more help this year, greatly increasing the number of presents he needs to deliver.
With this goal in mind, InteliSum scanned Santa’s sleigh to create an instant intelligent model. 3D models of the presents were used to plan spacing and to calculate the quantities per trip. Santa also needed to know the amount of weight he could carry safely.
The instant model was used in a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) package to calculate weight loads for safe lift and landing. ISI took it one step further and linked Santa’s database to a GIS package to determine the most efficient route. The database was also linked to the gifts to ensure that no one is missed.
